Dr. Matthew Haney graduated magna cum laude from the University of Georgia with degrees in Microbiology and Spanish and research scholar distinction. He studied medical Spanish and served as
a volunteer medical interpreter. He completed his undergraduate medical education at Georgetown University School of Medicine and his internal medicine residency training at the University
of Louisville School of Medicine. He served as Chairman of the Internal Medicine Residency Steering Committee for two years. After completing his training, he joined the Atlanta VA Medical
Center as an Academic Hospitalist and the medical faculty at Emory University School of Medicine as an Assistant Professor of Medicine. As faculty he developed interests in medical
education, procedural simulation, hospital operations, and health care informatics. He returned to Washington, DC in 2018 to join the academic hospitalist group at the Washington DC VAMC,
and is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. He currently serves as the Site Co-Director for the GW Acting Internship
in Internal Medicine and is enrolled in the GW School of Business MBA program.
