Emergency services were called to the Fiddes & Son Ltd showroom on Brindley Road in Leckwith at around 11pm on Monday night after a fire had erupted in a store room inside the industrial


unit, started by an "explosion." Around 50 firefighters and five fire engines from across south Wales were called to tackle the blaze. Fiddes & Son Ltd has been operating out


of Cardiff, where they produce their Fiddes Wax for nearly 100 years, over four generations. They are a well-known and well-respected British manufacturer of traditional wood and floor

and Rescue Service have confirmed they were called at 22:43pm to the scene of an explosion inside a unit on an industrial site in Leckwith. The stop message was received at 3:44am but


emergency services remained at the scene into Tuesday afternoon. Article continues below Fire personnel joined together from stations across the city to get the flames under control. A


spokesperson for the fire service said: "SWFRS received a call at approximately 22:42 to reports of a fire in an industrial processing building in Leckwith. "Five appliances from


Cardiff Central, Penarth, Roath and Ely Stations attended the incident. "Additionally, one drone, one aerial appliance, and two water bowsers were used. Approximately 50 firefighters


dealt with the incident. Due to the nature of the industrial building, a chemical unit was deployed as a precaution. The fire was extinguished. "STOP message received at approximately


03:44." South Wales Police joined the fire service at the scene and closed surrounding roads including Penarth Road, the A4232, and Hadfield Road, as smoke was affecting driving


visibility. Local residents were asked to keep their doors and windows shut to avoid smoke inhalation. A spokesperson for the police said: “South Wales Police was called at 10:46pm last


night (Monday June 2) to a fire at an industrial unit on Brindley Road, Leckwith. "The roads in the surrounding area remained closed for several hours as a precautionary measure.”
