BUDDING ACTOR GETS DISTINCTION Patrick Porreca-Lennon, 19, got a distinction in performing arts from the College Merthyr Tydfil. He's already performed on the show Mammoth. He is now
going to study BA Acting at East 45, in London. He said “I was studying A levels but I just wasn’t enjoying it. I enjoyed the drama course but that was about it. “I’ve always wanted to be an
actor and luckily for me, my dad is an actor so he gave me some guidance and told me to apply for this course at the college. “The course has been great and it’s really built up my
confidence. I performed for a BBC show called Mammoth, which was a fantastic experience. We all had our own sets for the day and I had a great time and learnt a lot. They all treated me with
respect and I learnt a lot that day. “They run the course like a drama school, it’s completely different, you just focus on what you want to do. If I stuck with A levels I wouldn’t be where
I am today and I wouldn’t be happy, but I am delighted with where I am today. “The tutors are amazing, they give great advice which is essential in acting. They’ve provided us with free
trips to London to the west end, which provides us with great inspiration for the future. “My dad is so proud of me, he’s my biggest critic and tells me how it is. But he’s so proud that I
took the risk and dropped out. I’m very lucky to have a dad who works in this industry, but also a dad who is so supportive and wants me to succeed. “ I can’t wait to get started at uni,
it’s the perfect building block for my career and I can’t wait to see what the future holds. “I just want to work as much as possible and be happy, I want to travel the world, I’ve never
been abroad so I want to use my career as a stepping stone to see the world.”
