IT'S NOT THE FIRST TIME AN UNUSUAL-LOOKING SQUIRREL HAS ATTRACTED ATTENTION IN YSTRAD MYNACH IN RECENT YEARS 16:08, 02 Jun 2025 An unusual coloured squirrel has been spotted in a Welsh

garden. The white and grey patched creature was photographed by a resident in Ystrad Mynach, north of Caerphilly. It is likely that the squirrel has leucistic, a genetic condition causing

the partial loss of pigmentation resulting in white, pale, or patchy coloration. It differs to albinism, which refers to animals lacking pigment and resulting in white colouration. Albinism

also affects the eyes, meaning they may appear red or pink. The resident said they have seen the beautiful animal eating in their garden recently along with all the other regular squirrels.
