The Jennifer Lawrence Arts Fund -- which was established at the Fund for the Arts in spring 2016 -- has awarded over $200,000 to local arts organizations. Each grant supports the mission of

the Fund for the Arts, which is to “maximize the impact of the arts on economic development, education and the quality of life for everyone by generating resources, inspiring excellence, and

creating community connections.” In a news release, Fund for the Arts president and CEO Christen Boone said the Fund "is beyond grateful to have the support of Jennifer Lawrence."

"We are taking great strides as an arts community and that growth is fueled not only by 20,000 donors to the Fund but also by Oscar winner and Louisville native, Jennifer

Lawrence," Boone said. Here are the local organizations that received grants: * $25,000 GRANT TO ACTORS THEATRE OF LOUISVILLE to support capital improvements at the world-renowned

theater; * $20,000 GRANT TO COMMONWEALTH THEATRE CENTER (formerly Walden Theatre/Blue Apple Players) to increase capacity of education and outreach programs; * $25,000 GRANT TO KENTUCKY

SHAKESPEARE to support the January 2017 production of "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead" at the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts; * $55,000 GRANT TO THE LOUISVILLE

ORCHESTRA to provide live music for identified Louisville Ballet and Kentucky Opera productions in the 2016-2017 season; * $13,000 GRANT TO THE LOUISVILLE YOUTH ORCHESTRA to expand the

organization's training and alumni programs; * $50,000 GRANT TO SUPPORT ARTSMATCH FOR ACCESS, a pilot program to increase access to the arts across Greater Louisville. The Jennifer

Lawrence Arts Fund was funded with the net proceeds from the inaugural Awards in the Arts held in April. The event was hosted by Fund for the Arts, the Jennifer Lawrence Foundation, and

Churchill Downs. The second annual Awards in the Arts will be held on April 29, 2017 at Churchill Downs with proceeds again benefiting the JLAF.
