continues below Clarke reversed into the driveway of an elderly resident's house in Vicarage Gardens, Llandudno, Wales, on November 14 last year. She had been behaving suspiciously,

with police called at 11.45pm, prosecutor Elen Owen said. PC Siwan Hughes made eye contact with Clarke, who then pretended to be asleep. She stretched her arm into the car in an attempt to

get hold of the keys - but Clarke drove off. A male officer hit the car window with a baton but this also failed to stop the former nurse. The defendant drove over gardens and bypassed two

parked police cars before heading towards Llandudno Junction. Dashcam footage played to the court showed two police cars chasing Clarke's Audi from Llandudno, along the A470, towards

the Black Cat roundabout at up to 97mph. She turned right into Llandudno Junction and stopped briefly but reversed away from officers. Footage captured her then driving back towards Conwy

to provide a blood sample. The convict claimed she drove away from the scene because she had not felt 'safe'. Officers said they had ensured a female officer approached her car in

the driveway. Simon Mintz, defending, accepted the dangerous driving had been 'quite bad and quite long'. Article continues below But the roads had been 'tranquil' and

there had been 'no close shaves' with other vehicles or pedestrians during the incident. He noted that a probation service officer believed Clarke could be rehabilitated.

Sentencing, Judge Nicola Saffman said Clarke had put others at risk of 'significant harm'. The defendant had travelled at speeds including 94mph on a 60mph road, she said. The

court heard how Clarke - who was also banned from driving for two years and eight months - lost her job as a lead nurse at a health care provider.
