Apple’s iPhone 12 may still be hot off the assembly line – but there are already major rumours circulating about the design and specs of the 2021 iPhone 13 (Name TBC). True to Apple’s modus
operandi, the California-based tech giant is sure to release a new generation of the iPhone next year, most likely four models just like the standard, Mini, Pro and Pro Max. But just how
different will be it be to the iPhone 12 models? DESIGN – PORTLESS, TOUCH ID & SMALLER NOTCH As Bluetooth connectivity and wireless charging becomes the norm, smartphone manufacturers
are now looking into delivering completely portless devices. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said in 2019 Apple would release a premium iPhone next year that offers a “completely wireless
experience” with the first-ever removal of the Lightning charging port. The iPhone already dumped the headphone jack in 2016, so a phone with no charging port would be a long time coming. A
portless iPhone with no buttons would rely on Qi-based wireless charging, meaning Apple may be looking to manufacture its own wireless charging pads. Wireless charging is typically a lot
slower than Lightning, so this would require a major development in this field. Another major aesthetic update we could see in the iPhone 13 is the redesign of the notch, allowing for a more
end-to-end display. The notch is quite vital for Apple’s Face ID technology, so rumour has it Apple may be adding Touch ID (fingerprint sensor) back to the iPhone 13. This could also be a
response to the widespread mask-wearing during the pandemic which rendered a lot of Face ID smartphone sensors useless. An Apple iPhone Lightning power cable is pictured in Portland, Ore.,

reduce electronic waste saying that the move stifles innovation. (Photo by Alex Milan Tracy/Sipa USA) FEATURES – 120HZ PROMOTION DISPLAYS, BETTER CAMERA, NEW 5G CHIP The iPhone 13 will
likely feature a 120Hz ProMotion display after this feature was cut from the 12 models due to battery draining concerns. For such a fast refresh rate, Apple needs LTPO display technology and
according to _MacRumors.com_, two of the 2021 iPhone devices will have OLED displays with low-power LTPO backplane tech which will allow for 120Hz with improved battery life. The two
iPhones which will have this refresh rate are likely to be the Pro models. Display analyst Ross Young has suggested all phones in the 2021 line up will have the advanced camera sensors
shipped with the iPhone 12 Pro Max. Sensor-shift stabilisation is also set to be expanded across all iPhones in the series, meaning improvements in the low-light performance and
stabilisation by reducing camera shake. The 2021 Pro models may also have 6-element Ultra Wide lenses with f/1.7 apertures and autofocus capabilities. In February, Qualcomm released a
Snapdragon X60 third-generation 5G modem, which Apple will use in the iPhone 13. There also reports the models may have single 5G band support on mmWave or sub-6GHz networks. RELEASE DATE?
The 2021 iPhone 13 models will probably be released between September-December next year. It will more likely be a September timeline, as the 12 was delayed due to pandemic supply and
shipping issues. About Post Author April Glover April Glover is Editor at SmartHouse magazine and writes across Channel news. She has been a journalist covering breaking news, business,
