The A46 bypass in Warwickshire has re-opened nine hours after crash that left a passenger seriously hurt. The southbound carriageway between the A45 at Coventry and A452 at Kenilworth was
closed at just before 3am this morning (June 3). It followed a serious collision between a van and a HGV. West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) confirmed that a passenger in the van was
left seriously injured. Warwickshire Police has since confirmed that the man, who is aged in his 20s, is being treated for a serious leg injury in hospital. The van driver, who has not been

NEW CAFE Due to the impact of the collision, police were forced to close the road and highways officers were sent to the area to help with traffic management. The bypass remained closed
until just after midday today. In a statement, West Midlands Ambulance Service explained: "We were called at 2.48am to a road traffic collision involving a van and a HGV on the A46,
Junction 3 B side in Kenilworth. Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Critical Care Car attended the scene. "Upon arrival we found two men from
the van. The first man who was a passenger had sustained serious injuries. He received advanced trauma care from ambulance staff at the scene. "The second man who was the driver had
sustained injuries not believed to be serious. He received treatment at the scene. Both were conveyed to University Hospital Coventry for further treatment. No further patients required
treatment." CoventryLive has asked Warwickshire Police for an update on the investigation into the collision. We have yet to receive a response.
