Richard Osman admits he was left “floundering” while on holiday with his wife Ingrid Oliver. Richard, 54, met television star Ingrid, 48, when she appeared on an episode of his House of
Games show. The couple tied the knot at Goodwood House, a country estate in West Sussex, in 2022. The former Pointless host described the occasion as the “most magical, joyful day”. On his
The Rest is Entertainment podcast with journalist Marina Hyde, Richard revealed he has recently jetted away on holiday with Ingrid. It was while in Italy that Richard encountered a problem,
he doesn’t actually speak the language. He said: “I feel bad, because Ingrid is fluent, I literally just flounder in the background. I don’t know how to say anything.” Marina joked: “A true
holiday.” To which Richard replied: “A true holiday where I do nothing at all.” Ingrid, who has appeared on Doc Martin, Doctor Who and Peep Show, grew up with a German father and an English
mother. Her dad, Eric Gideon, was awarded the Légion d'Honneur for his services to France during World War II. Her mother Jo was the former Conservative MP for Stoke-on-Trent Central,
but stepped down ahead of the 2024 general election. Ingrid believes her upbringing meant she can proficiently mimic accents. Speaking to Blowout magazine, she said: “I speak fluent German
and Italian and passable French and Spanish. I have an ear for accents, probably because I grew up in so many different places and I had to imitate people to fit in.” The actress grew up in
both Germany and Kuwait before settling down in the United Kingdom. She made her TV debut in 2005, appearing in Footprints in the Snow. In 2012, the BBC commissioned a series of her Watson
and Oliver sketch show with comic partner Lorna Watson. She starred as Petronella Osgood in Doctor Who as well as a series of video games relating to the BBC show. Richard, who has two
children from his previous marriage, has spoken fondly of Ingrid. Speaking to the BBC, he said he was “in a place where I want to be” in life. He added: “I'm happy with myself,
I've got these beautiful kids, I've met the woman who I'm going to be with for the rest of my life and that thing of competition and ambition - you soon realise that rocket
fuel disappears and it's about happiness, and my kids bring me happiness and Ingrid brings me happiness." While the couple are taking time away on holiday, Richard is set for a
busy year, with Netflix’s adaptation of debut novel The Thursday Murder Club set for release on August 28. While the next novel in the series will be released in September.
