EASTENDERS STAR CLAIR NORRIS HAS BROKEN HER SILENCE AFTER IT WAS REVEALED THAT HER CHARACTER BERNIE TAYLOR HAS BEEN AXED FROM THE BBC SOAP AFTER EIGHT YEARS 08:02, 03 Jun 2025 Actress Clair
Norris, known for her role as Bernie Taylor in EastEnders, has broken her silence weeks after news broke of her departure from the BBC soap following an eight-year stint. Clair, 27, joined
her fellow cast members at the British Soap Awards over the weekend, where EastEnders scooped a staggering 8 awards. The haul included Best British Soap, Best Single Episode and Scene of the
Year for Angie Watts' dramatic comeback. The team was out in force to celebrate their success, and it was during these festivities that Clair spoke publicly about her exit for the
first time, describing it as an "amazing end". She took to Instagram to share a snap of herself looking stunning in a teal gown from the event, writing: "My last
@thebritishsoapawards with my EE family. We [swept] up last night, 8 awards and I couldn't be prouder to be apart of this team! What a way to end this amazing journey, head held high
and beaming from ear to ear." Support poured in for Clair from fans and colleagues alike under her post, with James Farrar (Zack Hudson) commenting: "Head held HIGH,"
accompanied by several red heart emojis, reports the Mirror. Article continues below Emma Barton, who portrays Honey Mitchell, chimed in with: "Love you," while Elijah Holloway
(Harry Mitchell) added: "We looked lovely didn't we." Clair also shared photos alongside co-star Matthew James Morrison, who is also leaving the show after playing Felix Baker
since 2022. Bernie rocked up in Walford back in 2017, with her mum Karen Taylor (played by Lorraine Stanley) and brother Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) in tow. But she's now the last
Taylor left on the Square, following her mum Karen's departure from EastEnders in 2023 and the shocking Christmas Day murder of her brother Keanu. A source told The Sun that
Bernie's exit didn't come as much of a shock to Clair, saying: "Every time a soap gets a new boss they want to make their own changes – it's nothing personal. Article
continues below "The writing has been on the wall for Bernie for some time so it wasn't really a surprise to Clair. "She was the last Taylor standing and it's time to
close the chapter on them and let Clair go on to do other things." WANT ALL THE BIGGEST SHOWBIZ AND TV NEWS STRAIGHT TO YOUR INBOX? SIGN UP FOR OUR FREE DAILY STAR SHOWBIZ NEWSLETTER.
