and former minister B Sriramulu, who is leading the anti-CBI campaign in the state after the arrest of his mentor and friend G Janardhana Reddy, on Monday, opened a broadside against the
Centre and the CBI. He accused the Centre of using CBI to terrorise BJP leaders in the state. “The CBI has been tutored by the Congress leaders to attack Jaganmohan Reddy in Andhra Pradesh
and Janardhana Reddy in Karnataka. They are using the CBI to malign the opposition party leaders,” he told mediapersons. “Congress leaders realised that there was no future for their party
if Reddy continued to be a popular figure. So, this was the easiest way out,” he said. He later met district-in-charge minister SA Ramdas in a city hotel where they huddled with close aides.
Ramdas, who met waiting mediapersons outside the hotel, said, “I tried my best to persuade Sriramulu against resigning, but he did not relent.” Temple hopping Sriramulu, who returned to
Mysore from Kodagu after tendering his resignation to speaker KG Bopaiah on Sunday, went temple hopping on Monday. He first visited the Ganapathi temple in the city and then climbed the
1,200 steps to arrive at Chamundeshwari temple where he offered special prayers for the well-being of Janardhana Reddy.
