Perimeter fencing should be at least three metres at the ends of the pitch, rising to five metres behind the goals. When spectators can view behind the goal, the fencing height may need to
be increased to at least seven metres. Side-line fencing may be as low as 1.2 metre, but cross field play needs to be considered and would ideally recommend 3metres. England Hockey would
advise that a risk assessment is carried out to determine an appropriate fencing solution and reflects the intended use.
