intention to crack down on. Last week Mrs von der Leyen, the President of the European Commission, announced the EU has reached its target of double-jabbing 70 percent of its roughly 450

million adult citizens by August 31, hailing the news as vindication of Brussels’ strategy of “moving forward together”. However, studying figures from the EU’s own medical agency, the

European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), Facts4EU’s researchers suggested she had jumped the gun. On the day of her announcement, the ECDC reported just 68.7 percent of

adults were fully vaccinated. As of 4am GMT today, the ECDC put the percentage at 69.2 percent - still short of Mrs von der Leyen’s claim. If current trends continue the target will not be

met until next week. Facts4EU highlighted the Commission’s new codes of practice aimed at preventing what Brussels regards as "disinformation" or "misinformation". As

such it has implemented an EU-wide Code of Practice on disinformation, with major internet companies including Google, Facebook, and Twitter having already signed up. JUST IN: BREXIT LIVE -

must now ban the EU Commission President and all Commissioners and EU politicians who have posted about the 70 percent target of fully vaccinated adults having been reached on Tuesday last

week. “This is clearly disinformation, as the EU knew from its own official medical agency that this was not correct. “As Twitter and Facebook have both signed up to the EU’s Code of

Practice on Disinformation, we are sure they will act, even if the Commission does not turn itself in voluntarily.” Mr Evans also suggested the EU was motivated by jealousy about the success

of the UK’s vaccine rollout. He explained: “There is no doubt that the EU Commission was horrified when Brexit Britain became the first country in the World to launch a mass vaccination

rollout against COVID-19. “This turned into panic as the United Kingdom successfully started vaccinating large numbers of the public, whilst the Commission was still at planning stage.”

Speaking last Tuesday, Mrs von der Leyen said: “The full vaccination of 70 percent of adults in the EU already in August is a great achievement. “The EU's strategy of moving forward

together is paying off and putting Europe at the vanguard of the global fight against COVID-19. “But the pandemic is not over. We need more. I call on everyone who can to get vaccinated.”
