Wheat is still 10 days away from being ripe at Andrew Crow’s Cherrington Manor, Newport, Shropshire. “We haven’t cut a lot.” So far he had only combined one field of winter barley, which had
disappointed at less than 7.4t/ha (3t/acre). He had another 80ha (200 acres) of winter barley to cut, as well as finishing off haymaking, before he could move onto anything else. “We had a
nice weekend but need a couple more dry days this week,” he said. Most people had finished oilseed rape in the area, and were now getting into the winter barley. Potato yields at the farm
had been excellent, with Accord and Premier averaging 49t/ha (20t/acre), he added. Crop: Winter barley Yield: <7.4t/ha (3t/acre) Crop: Potatoes Varieties: Accord and Premier Yield: 49t/ha
(20t/acre) Duxford winter wheat is an HGCA Recommended List 2009/10 variety with very high UK treated yields and a maximum 9 rating for resistance to lodging with and without PGR.
Combined with the highest second wheat yield and a balanced disease resistance profile, Duxford will continue to help UK growers meet the challenge of producing more grain profitably. Go to
