20 FEBRUARY 1998 ------------------------- POTASH ADVICE POTASH shortfalls could cut nitrogen efficiency this spring, so hitting cereal margins, advises Richard Martin of Terra Nitrogen.
"Trials data clearly shows that higher P and K status soils grow more robust cereal crops which respond better to nitrogen and are therefore more cost-effective to grow." To avoid
the problem apply potash with nitrogen as the first top dressing, Mr Martin suggests. Terra products containing K include Kaynitro and Kaynitro Gold. Such an approach is more economic than
an NPK compound, he claims.
