Netflix fans have been given their first look at the highly-anticipated trailer The Thursday Murder Club after a lengthy wait for news. A trailer for the upcoming release, based on Richard

Osman's bestselling book, released today (May 29), and shows what fans can expect from their next favourite amateur detectives. The first look at footage gives a feel of Midsomer

Murders meets Only Murders In The Building. The plot centres around a group of retirees who pass the time by solving murders. The star-studded cast includes Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Sir

Ben Kingsley, and David Tennant. There are five books in the series that have been published to date. They have proved so popular that presenter turned author Osman followed them up with a

separate murder mystery series called We Solve Murders. While the first trailer for The Thursday Murder Club has now been released by Netflix, it still doesn't give too much away.

Clocking in at just over a minute long, not much is divulged about the details surrounding the case the club will solve. It is shared that they are investigating a cold case which seems to

involve a woman falling out of a window one night in 1973. However, according to the synopsis released by Netflix, when an unexplained death occurs on their own doorstep, their casual

sleuthing takes a thrilling turn as they find themselves with a real whodunit on their hands. This article contains affiliate links, we will receive a commission on any sales we generate

excitement as soon as the trailer was released. Many noted that they loved that it was shared on an actual Thursday. Another replying to the video on YouTube commented: "I honestly cant

believe this is finally happening! The trailer gave me chills. I’ve loved these books for so long and seeing the characters come to life on screen is incredibly emotional. I’m so attached

to them, it almost feels personal. I’m beyond excited to see how it all unfolds." One noted how recent Mobland costars Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan are working together so soon. They

said: "Mobland fans in the house? Glad to see Pierce and Helen back together." Someone was a little disappointed that the adaptation is a movie as they replied: "Why is this

a movie when I need seven seasons at 12 episodes per season?" A popular reaction among fans was their opinion of the star studded cast list. One person declared on social media:

"That cast is amazing, can't wait to see them solve mysteries together on August 28. Sounds fun!" Another agreed: "Perfect casting." However one person cheekily

quipped: "It's Knives Out for pensioners." Writer Osman teased fans that a trailer would drop soon on his Instagram page yesterday (May 28), sending fans of his hit book

series into a frenzy. One fan responded: "I am nervous for the release of the film because I love the characters so much. I worry if it doesn't feel right it will affect how I read

the fifth book." Meanwhile a second fan joked: "My husband has booked our holiday abroad during the week this drops on Netflix. Seriously considering divorce." _THE THURSDAY
