GOOD MORNING BRITAIN PRESENTER SUSANNA REID OPENED UP ABOUT HOW SHE FEELS ABOUT CHECKING HER BREASTS AFTER JESSIE J'S CANCER DIAGNOSIS. MEGHNA AMIN 09:23, 04 Jun 2025 Good Morning
Britain's Susanna Reid, 54, opened up about the importance of breast checks in a candid discussion with I'm A Celebrity's Giovanna Fletcher on Wednesday's show. Following
Jessie J's announcement of her early breast cancer diagnosis, both Susanna and Giovanna emphasised the need for regular self-examinations. However, Susanna confessed to feeling
"reluctant" to perform checks on herself due to fears of what she might discover, acknowledging that this worry is "irrational". She shared her thoughts:
"Psychologically there's a process of denial, if I don't find it, it's not there, and I don't need to worry about it." Jessie J, who disclosed her condition on
Instagram late last night, received an outpouring of support from celebrities including Strictly's Amy Dowden and Loose Women panellist Nadia Sawalha. The Price Tag singer revealed she
had been "in and out of tests" clinging to the hope provided by the term "early," and humorously remarked: "It's a very dramatic way to get a boob job."

expressed her reasons for being open: "I just wanted to be open and share it," adding, "One, because, selfishly, I do not talk about it enough. I'm not processing it
because I'm working so hard." She also recognised the power of sharing: "I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me with other people giving me their love and
support and also their own stories. I'm an open book." Reflecting on the impact of her news, she said: "It breaks my heart that so many people are going through so much
similar and worse - that's the bit that kills me." Susanna opened up on Good Morning Britain about the influence of celebrities like Jessie J on public health actions, saying:
"When somebody with Jessie J's profile speaks out, it really does have a direct impact on what people then do." She recalled how Sarah Ferguson's openness about her
breast cancer diagnosis prompted her own health checks: "I remember when the Duchess of York was open about her diagnosis, that meant that I went for a mammogram I had been
delaying." However, Susanna admitted to sometimes being hesitant about self-checks, stating: "But I have to admit, and I'm sure I'm not alone, that I am sometimes
reluctant to check myself because I am worried about what I might find, and that is entirely irrational, because as Jessie J points out, if there is something to find, it is better to get it
early." Giovanna echoed the sentiment on the show, affirming: "Absolutely," and added, "We've got to not be scared about things like that, really." Susanna
shared how Sarah's situation was a "wake-up call" for her, leading her to schedule a mammogram. After overcoming initial "hurdles" to attend her screening, Susanna
described her positive experience on the ITV morning programme in 2023: "I went in, and the nurse was absolutely lovely, and it wasn't in the least bit painful or
uncomfortable." Article continues below She confessed her prior apprehensions, saying: "I was expecting it to be far, far worse." Ending on an encouraging note, Susanna urged
viewers: "So if you have been putting it off for that reason, please don't. Go and get your mammogram done." GOOD MORNING BRITAIN AIRS WEEKDAYS FROM 6AM ON ITV1.
