A developer has begun construction work on the first new subdivision to be built in Michigan City in 50 years. Allen Edwin Homes started the new Woodland Ridge neighborhood on South Woodland


Avenue, just south of West Pahs Road. South Bend-based Allen Edwin Homes is building 1,252-square-foot to 2,735-square-foot homes that will start at $295,900. Homebuyers will have a range


of options, including two to five bedrooms, one or two bathrooms and up to two garages. Homebuyers can select one of 27 different designs if they want to build a new house in the


neighborhood. Michigan City Mayor Angie Nelson Deuitch and other dignitaries attended a recent groundbreaking ceremony. “When the road went in, I was so excited that the project was on the


right path to offer our residents another option for homeownership,” she said. “We are staying the course in this process with all of our partners and look forward to Phase 1 of Woodland
