Arnold Schwarzenegger has revealed that he was shocked to see his son Patrick Schwarzenegger’s “weenie” in the latest season of “The White Lotus.”
The father-son pair discussed the show and each other’s respective Hollywood careers during the Tuesday, June 3, episode of Variety’s “Actors on Actors” series.
But while the “Terminator” star, 77, admitted that he was surprised to see his 31-year-old son naked on the small screen, he quickly realized that he had also gotten naked for several
different roles.
“I couldn’t believe it,” Arnold began. “I said to myself, ‘I’m watching your show, and I’m watching your butt sticking out there.’ And all of a sudden, I see the weenie.”
“What is going on here? This is crazy,” he continued. “Then I said to myself, ‘Well, Arnold, hello. You did the same thing in ‘Conan’ and ‘Terminator,’ so don’t complain about it.’ But it
was a shock to me that you were following in my footsteps so closely.”
Patrick, who portrayed privileged finance bro Saxon Ratliff in Season 3 of “The White Lotus,” got naked in the very first episode of the season.
He previously discussed watching the scene with his famous family, including his mom, Maria Shriver, and how his divorced parents had “different reactions to seeing me completely nude.”
“My dad thought it was hilarious,” the “Gen V” actor told “Today” in March. “My mom didn’t even really understand what was happening.”
Arnold previously commented on his son’s “White Lotus” nude scene in February shortly after attending the Mike White-created show’s Season 3 premiere.
“I could claim to be surprised to find out he has a nude scene,” the “Conan” star wrote on Instagram at the time, “but what can I say – the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.”
Elsewhere in the father-son duo’s “Actors on Actors” interview, Patrick discussed navigating Hollywood as a nepo baby.
“Mike White said that it comes with baggage, the idea that when you have successful parents like I do with you and mom, there’s an added level of what other people think,” Patrick explained.
“Mike was worried about, if he cast me, what other people would think,” he continued. “Which they did – they did care about that; people said I got the role because of you and mom.”
The “Scream Queens” star then revealed that he considered using a stage name early in his career to distance himself from his celebrity parents.
“There were times earlier in my career where I was wondering, does it make sense to go under an alias?” Patrick said. “It took a while for me to get to a point where I was less worried about
living in your shadow versus wanting to do it the way I thought I should do it.”
Later in the interview, Patrick said it “makes sense” that he would follow the same career path as his well-known father.
“We talked about this idea of nepotism,” he said, “but when you grow up and your parents do a specific job, it makes sense that you go and work in that world.”
Arnold agreed and added that his breakout star son “never asked” him to do anything that would give him a leg up in Hollywood.
“You have never asked me to call a studio or to call an agent,” the “Batman & Robin” star revealed. “You never asked me for advice when it comes to acting itself.”
“You’re a rare breed,” Arnold concluded, “and I’m very, very proud of you.”
Besides Patrick, Arnold and Shriver also share children Christopher, 27, Christina, 33, and Katherine, 35.
The couple split in 2011 after Arnold revealed that he fathered another son, Joseph Baena, now 27, in 1997 with the family’s housekeeper.
Arnold and Shriver’s divorce was finalized in December 2021.
