After 8 years as a criminal barrister in Liverpool, Frank spent several years serving as a military intelligence officer in the Balkan wars and Iraq. He was subsequently a civilian advisor
for the UK government in Helmand, Libya and elsewhere. He is the author of several books including "Losing Small Wars" (Yale 2018) and "Aerial Warfare, a Very Short
Introduction" (OUP 2020). He holds a PhD from Kings College London and is currently a senior lecturer at the Royal Air Force College
