Ronald Beems was appointed as Associate Director, Patient Care Services at VA Detroit Health Care System on March 10, 2024. He has been a licensed registered nurse in the state of Michigan
since 1999. Mr. Beems received his master’s degree from Central Michigan University in 2011. In 2001, he came to the Detroit VAMC as a critical care nurse since then he has held many
hospital-based leadership roles to include the following; off-tour supervisor, Clinical Nurse Manager of several areas (ICU, Telemetry, Step-Down, and Cardiac Cath Lab) and Associate Chief
Nurse of both Medicine and Surgery as well as several interim positions throughout Patient Care Services. Some of Ronald’s other career highlights include serving in the military and
teaching. Mr. Beems was a Combat Medic stationed with the infantry for fours years. Ronald continues to give back to the nursing profession through education. Mr. Beems has been an Adjunct
Professor since 2009 at both Wayne State University and University of Detroit Mercy. Mr. Beems also worked several years at Detroit Receiving Hospital as a neuro-trauma nurse before coming
to the DVAMC. When not at the Detroit VAMC, Ronald is an avid hunter and loves spending time watching sporting events.
