Richard W. (Wes) Hoyt is the Associate Director/Chief Operating Officer for the VA Eastern Kansas Health Care System. Mr. Hoyt is a native of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, with over 32 years of
Healthcare Leadership and Operations experience within the Department of the Army and civilian sector. Most recently, Wes served as the CEO of Saint John Hospital in Leavenworth and prior
to that, COO for Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System, Hutchinson, Kansas. Wes is a Board-certified Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and currently serves as
the ACHE Regent for Kansas. A retired Army Officer, Wes served from November 1985 till August 2016, in both enlisted and officer roles. In his 30-year Army career, roles served included
Medical Platoon Leader in the 82nd Airborne Division, Medical Task Force Commander in Iraq, and Deputy Command Surgeon for United States Army Africa. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in
Education from Southeastern LA University and a Masters in Healthcare Administration from Baylor University. Wes’ passion is continuing to serve our past, present, and future Veterans. As
a Veteran himself, he understands the needs and expectations of our Veterans…that is what drives him to deliver on our promise and mission. Placing the Patient at the center of the equation
and never compromising on the quality of care we provide is the bedrock of his beliefs.
